Argos Pop-up in Santa Fe

Karl Whitaker took a bucket of prints up to Santa Fe for a pop-up print show during the Tuesday Night Life Drawing Group at Argos Studio Gallery on November 29, 2022.  All 12 prints were from Santa Fe artists, many of whom have attended the drawing group:

The Argos Studio Gallery is a printmaking studio and gallery in Santa Fe.  They moved to a new location after the Covid pandemic, not far from their old location:

We showed the Ambos Lados International Print Exchange at the old Argos Studio Gallery location in 2017:

Also note that our Bucket Prints made the 2022 compilation video from Axle Contemporary mobile art gallery of Santa Fe, of the exhibitions we did in July, 2022:

Southwest Print Fiesta 2022 Summary

We were proud to show the 8x8 inch prints at the Southwest Print Fiesta 2022 in Silver City, New Mexico, from October 7 - 10.  The SWPF posted some pictures of our show and the festival on Facebook.

The BIG and the SMALL

This year's Print Fiesta ranged from the tiny to the huge.  The Open Press Project sent their tiny Print Exchange from Germany, of 7x7 cm prints displayed in 3D printed frames.  How elegant!

Meanwhile the huge 42x42 inch prints were pressed with a steamroller, INDOORS to avoid the rain:

The Southwest Print Fiesta just gets better every year.  Even though it rained hard during the 7th Annual Print Fiesta, everything was moved indoors, even the steamroller printing.  A visitor did not experience any speed bumps.  Again, thank you Kyle Durrie and Jamie Karolich of Power and Light Press for pulling everything off so seamlessly!

Manuel Guerra exhibited the 8x8 inch prints in the Diana Ingalls Leyba Studio Gallery

I took pictures of most of the vendors, and regret missing a few vendor artists:

Los Griegos Library exhibition in Albuquerque

BUCKET PRINTS

We are showing framed 8x8 inch prints at the Los Griegos Branch Library -- 1000 Griegos NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The exhibition runs from August 16 - September 30, 2022.

All but three of the prints are from the artists that draw on Thursday nights at the North Fourth Art Center.  About half of the prints were made during the model break on a Tortilla Press:

The PRINTS

These prints are all created by Albuquerque artists who draw together at the North Fourth Art Center on Thursday nights, plus a couple by figure artists who have yet to come.  Half of the prints were made on a Tortilla Press during the model breaks.

This show is part of the bigger BUCKET EXHIBITIONS project, dedicated to exhibiting framed 8x8 inch prints in smaller venues.  Previously we have had pop-ups shows in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico -- of prints by artists from New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, California, Mexico and even Australia. We plan to continue creating and exhibiting prints throughout the Southwest, Mexico and beyond, to promote the artistic dialogue between distant places.

All 18 prints fit in two buckets,
hung on August 16th, 2022

The library bulletin board displayed the flyer for the Thursday night drawing session at North Fourth Art Center:

The exhibition "Son de Allá, Son de Acá" is also promoting artists from the Southwest USA, like many of the artists in our Bucket Exhibitions/Bucket Prints project.  Their aim seems to be similar to that of our earlier Desert Triangle Print Carpeta exhibitions, which was:

  • "The purpose of the Desert Triangle Print Carpeta is to make a BIG NOISE, and let everyone know that there is artistic talent in the heart of the old Wild West."

URUAPAN, MEXICO

Manuel Guerra of Horned Toad Prints in El Paso is already receiving more 8x8 inch prints from Uruapan, Morelia, Mexico.  We connected with the MAPECO Taller in Uruapan on a trip back in 2019, when we were visiting the printmakers who participated in the Ambos Lado International Print Exchange:
