Printing on REAL TORTILLAS

While we were printing on paper with a hacked and modified Tortilla Press, the co-owners of Axle Contemporary printed on REAL TORTILLAS using an ABUSA REAL TORTILLA PRESS.

The images were made from hand cut linocuts, and the prints came out in shallow relief:

Apparently they laid a piece of Saran Wrap between the linocut and the tortilla masa:

Visitors were invited to eat the fresh Tortilla Prints:

They used an adjustable Tortilla Press --

GREAT IDEA

I think we could use the adjustable Abusa tortilla press to make prints on paper.  We would either have to cut the paper into circles (not easy), or figure out a way to make prints on square paper.

While the Abusa tortilla press is made of metal, it is still light enough to carry around (perhaps in your backpack).

And mostly importantly -- it is adjustable.  So we could make it thick enough to accommodate linoleum and paper.
