Tortilla Press Printing during the MiniPrint opening

Sometimes we have to make prints to put in the BUCKET, in order to keep the BUCKET EXHIBITIONS fresh.  And sometimes we get too enthusiastic and do some live printmaking in public!

We made prints with a Tortilla Press in front of Hecho A Mano gallery, at the top of Canyon Road in Santa Fe, on Saturday, April 29th, while they had the opening for the MiniPrint exhibition inside, as part of PRINT SANTA FE.

After pressing the print with a Tortilla Press we used a small glass print baren from Iron Frog Press from Dallas, which we just bought from the PRINT SANTA FE art fair the day before:

We also bought a "Cool S Baren" from Lars Roeder at the Print Santa Fe art fair.  This is a 3D printed baren with over 200 small ball bearings on the bottom, made for printing by hand:

Live Printmaking

2019

We got the Tortilla Press idea from Xavier Moreno and Alejandra Mares of 3 Gatos Press.  When we visited Guadalajara in 2019 they took us to Tlaquepaque to make prints on the Tortilla Press:

2021

The first time we did live printmaking in front of Hecho A Mano gallery, on August 7th, 2021, we printed linocuts that 3 Gatos Press had sent us, one from Xavier Moreno and another from Alejandra MaresManuel Guerra came up from El Paso to show us how to do it right:

THANK YOU!

A big THANK YOU to Frank Rose, the director of HECHO A MANO gallery, for letting us print in front of his gallery.  We always meet the most interesting people, from all over the world, and have a good time printing in front of his gallery:

Also a big THANKS to Sir Henry Morales and Ellie Weadock for coming up from Albuquerque to do some live printmaking in Santa Fe:

PRINT SANTA FE -- Art Fair

The Fistful of Prints art fair happened from April 28 to April 30th at CCA.  This print market was the jewel of Print Santa Fe as printmakers came from all over the country to sell prints -- Los Angeles, Spokane, Colorado, Oklahoma, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Missouri, Chicago, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Philadelphia, New York and of course Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

Snow kicked off the Art Fair, as Santa Fe enjoyed a little blizzard on Friday morning on April 28th; however all the snow had melted by 5 PM, when the opening started:

Krrrl went on opening night, Friday April 28th, 5 - 9 PM, looking for more BUCKET PRINTS, and took all the pictures below:

We were very pleased to meet PESARE -- a collective of three artists, Pepe Coronado (Austin), Sandra C Fernandez (New Jersey) and Rene Arceo (Chicago):

Rene Arceo is originally from Michoacán, Mexico, so we delighted in showing him our BUCKET PRINTS from MAPECO in Uruapan, Michoacán.  And they showed us their stack of "carpetas" (portfolios):

Sandra C Fernandez is the executive director of Consejo Grafico Nacional, a coalition of Latino printmaking studios across the United States:

Consejo Grafico Nacional had a nice collection of prints on view, which we had previously seen at Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, during PRINT AUSTIN 2020 (Janauary~February), right before the Covid pandemic broke out:

We were delighted to see that Iron Frog Press came all the way to Santa Fe from Dallas:

Matt and Sharon of Iron Frog Press had a workshop for kids at the Santa Fe Children's Museum right before the Art Fair:

Naturally we had to buy a small "tadpole" size glass baren to help print with our Tortilla Press printmaking:

works perfectly in conjunction our Tortilla Press

The next day we used the small glass print baren for a live printmaking event in front of Hecho A Mano gallery, at the top of Canyon Road in Santa Fe, during the MiniPrint opening:

We also bought a 3D printed plastic print baren  -- Cool S Baren -- from Lars Roeder:

There was also live printmaking at the Art Fair, and Krrrl bought a t-shirt from Full Court Press:
