Vicente Telles is also one of the three curators of the "Son de Allá, Son de Acá" exhibitions  -- which are showing at four galleries in Albuquerque in August:

The exhibition "Son de Allá, Son de Acá" is also promoting artists from the Southwest USA, like many of the artists in our Bucket Exhibitions/Bucket Prints project.  Their aim seems to be similar to that of our earlier Desert Triangle Print Carpeta exhibitions, which was:

  • "The purpose of the Desert Triangle Print Carpeta is to make a BIG NOISE, and let everyone know that there is artistic talent in the heart of the old Wild West."

URUAPAN, MEXICO

Manuel Guerra of Horned Toad Prints in El Paso is already receiving more 8x8 inch prints from Uruapan, Morelia, Mexico.  We connected with the MAPECO Taller in Uruapan on a trip back in 2019, when we were visiting the printmakers who participated in the Ambos Lado International Print Exchange:

Axle -- CHART Family Day -- July 17, 2022

Our last print show in the Axle Contemporary mobile art van was during the CHART final event and Family Day, at the Villa Linda Park in Santa Fe, on Sunday, July 17th, 2022, 11:30 - 2:30 PM:

From the CHART Santa Fe website:

The goal of the CHART project (August 2021 - August 2022) is to engage the diverse citizenry of the city and county of Santa Fe, New Mexico, in activities that will solicit their perspectives and opinions about issues that matter to them as well as to foster a mutual understanding of shared values.

Though sparked by controversies about monuments and statues, the project is much broader in scope and purpose. The original proposal was for the formation of a committee that would deliberate and make recommendations for the disposition of monuments and statues that became controversial flashpoints in the summer of 2020.

Axle -- Santa Fe Railyards -- July 15, 2022

During the evening of Friday, July 15th, 2022 we parked the Axle Contemporary mobile art van at the Santa Fe Railyards during the concert by Hayes Carll (link to his website), from 5-9 PM.  In spite of the photos below, we had a steady trickle of visitors:

One of the most enthusiastic visitors was a one-and-a-half year old who loved crawling in and out of the van.  He cried when his mother tried to walk him to the concert, so she had to bring him back to re-visit the van.  I heard that later during the concert, he was still pointing at the van from a long distance.  There were a few other little boys his age that also loved crawling in and out of the van -- to look at our prints, I'm sure.

The evening started hot, but cooled down as the rain clouds built up, delivering another one of those  mystical New Mexico evenings.  I didn't run into any rain until I was heading back to Albuquerque on I-25.
