SOUTHWEST PRINT FIESTA 2024 -- SUMMARY

EXQUISITE TESSELLATION

We laser cut linoleum into small tessellation "hat" shapes, and passed them out to artists to carve. Then we piece them together to make larger tessellation collaborative prints. Finally we exhibit both the individual and collaborative EXQUISITE TESSELLATION prints.

The "hat" shape -- "aperiodic monotile" -- was discovered by DAVID SMITH in 2022

Easy Tessellation Workshop/Demo

@ FUTURE FORGE MAKERSPACE

As one of the SPECIAL PROGRAMS -- Visitors to the FUTURE FORGE MAKERSPACE will make designs into curvy tessellation tiles, by gouging into them with ballpoint pens. Then we will print them individually with a Tortilla Press on 8x8 inch paper. Finally we will put them together and hand print a large collaborative tessellation piece on Kitakata paper:

TESSELLATION STEAMROLLER PRINTING

We will be making BIG Collaborative steamroller prints on 42 x 42 inch paper on Sunday, the second day of steamroller printmaking. These will be made from 20 inch wide hand carved "hat" tessellation linocuts. We are also bringing extra red and blue ink, in case we want to try printing in multiple colors:
