TUCSON visits ALBUQUERQUE

JOE MARSHALL from Tucson, his wife JOSEPHINE THOMASON and daughter REYNA made some quick prints in Albuquerque when they visited Quelab on June 28, 2025:

Joe and his family used the curvy stiff foam tessellation tiles like we did for the ATOMIC 66 print demo/workshop at Quelab earlier, on June 13, 2025:

Joe and his family made individual prints,
as well as a collaborative tessellation print

The first step is to draw/gouge into stiff foam with a ball point pen. The lines will be white after the tile is inked and printed:

will print as white lines

Then they put all three tessellation pieces together to make an EXQUISITE TESSELLATION collaborative print:

We did not have a burnisher, so we used a Styrofoam dish, and that worked just fine for a proof on drawing paper:

Imagine how this EXQUISTE TESSELLATION print might look in color, and with more plates:

PREVIOUS PRINTMAKING
with JOE MARSHALL

YAYBIG SOUTHWEST

We have been working and making prints with Joe Marshall since at least 2013, when he had his YAYBIG Gallery in Tucson at 174 E Toole Street:

We would have pop-up print shows all around the Southwest called YAYBIG SOUTHWEST -- and eventually we self-published a print catalog: YAYBIG SOUTHWEST Print Collection 2014:

The culmination of that effort was when we showed our YAYBIG SOUTHWEST collection at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Brownsville, Texas in 2015:

YAYBIG PRINT EXCHANGE

Joe Marshall also directed the YAYBIG PRINT EXCHANGE, which graced the covered of the ZOCALO Magazine in November 2014:

We exhibited the YAYBIG Print Exchange together with the HORNED TOAD Print Exchange, organized by Manuel Guerra of El Paso in many places -- Tucson, El Paso, Santa Fe, Juarez, Sacramento, Yuma:

DESERT TRIANGLE PRINT CARPETA

Joe Marshall also submitted the first print to the DESERT TRIANGLE PRINT CARPETA:

Joe Marshall was also part of our big PRINTS BY SOUTHWEST exhibition in Albuquerque at the South Broadway Cultural Center in 2017:
