CUBAN PRINTMAKERS

We were very lucky to encounter a couple of Cuban Printmakers.  STUART ASHMAN brought them to his gallery in Santa Fe -- ARTES DE CUBA -- and we got to meet printmakers MARCEL MOLINA and ABEL BARROSO at the opening on June 6, 2025:

FRANCISCO DELGADO of El Paso had an opening the same night at HECHO A MANO gallery in Santa Fe. However the next day he was able to come see the Cuban exhibition, and got to meet the two printmakers on June 7th:

Francisco has made several prints himself, such as the one below that he made in Oaxaca for the DESERT TRIANGLE PRINT CARPETA:

I (your blogger) was also  pleased to meet JOSE TOIRAC again.  Tanya Rich and Karl Whitaker had met Jose Toirac in his Havana studio back in 2018.  He has work with the Pan American Art Project in Miami, and also has an Instagram:

PREVIOUS

We had previously gone to a Cuban art event in Santa Fe, sponsored by STUART ASHMAN, when DARIEN FERNANDEZ came, as well as CLANDETINA to print shirts at the International Folk Market in October 18-20, 2019:

PRINT PORTFOLIOS

Also note that STUART ASHMAN was behind the CUBA EXCHANGE print portfolio around 2016 -- the same time we were showing the DESERT TRIANGLE PRINT CARPETA, with prints from Tucson, El Paso and Albuquerque.

This was a real treat to see the Cuban artists and printmakers in New Mexico.  Again, because prints travel easily they break borders, and best give us glimpses of lands far away.
