Styrofoam Printmaking at the Juan Tabo Library -- with HENRY MORALES

HENRY MORALES and ELLIE WEADOCK did a Styrofoam Printmaking workshop for kids (and adults) at the Juan Tabo Library in Albuquerque on May 31, 2025. This was part of the Albuquerque Public Libraries kick off for the Summer Reading Program -- and also served as the opening for HENRY MORALES art exhibition at the library:

STAR WARS showed up in force, and we also had a brisk stream of child printmakers. We opted to post the photos of the STAR WARS characters rather than the photos of the children.

TORTILLA PRESS

The main workhorse was the Adjustable Tortilla Press. We punched out 4 inch diameter Styrofoam discs, asked visitors to gouge into them with ball point pens, and then inked and printed the Styrofoam Masterpieces:

We also found that we could use the tiny Tortilla Presses, as long as we sandwiched the paper between two pieces of Styrofoam -- the bottom piece was for a cushion, and the top Styrofoam had the image to print:

HENRY MORALES also had a workshop and exhibition in 2023 at the East Mountain Public Library in Tijeras, New Mexico.

EXHIBITION

HENRY MORALES exhibited his prints in the Juan Tabo Library for the month of June 2025.  However he also invited a few other artists to exhibit small prints, some of which we made in Taos the previous weekend (May 24 - 25, 2025):
