HENRY MORALES printmaking workshop for kids

HENRY MORALES gave a printmaking workshop for kids at the East Mountain Library on June 3rd.  This was part of the citywide kick-off of the summer reading program -- "All Together Now" -- for the libraries of Albuquerque, New Mexico:

Most of the artists were young children.  They drew on a piece of Styrofoam with a ballpoint pen, and then Henry and Ellie inked up those Styrofoam plates to pull a print.  It all happens fast, this printmaking method has a quick turnaround:

Observation:  The kids make a lot better prints on Styrofoam than I do.  They work with large general areas, whereas us adults often try to put in a lot of detail.  The Styrofoam does not lend itself to describing detail.

Piggybacking on the citywide summer reading events at the Albuquerque libraries, Henry Morales' printmaking workshop was well attended, and a lot of fun.
