183 prints were on display for the second 8x8 II Show at the Alameda Art and Salvage gallery in El Paso: May 19 - June 3rd, 2023. This was even bigger than the 99 prints shown during the first 8x8 Show in 2022.
The exhibition started well with an article in the EL PASO TIMES, on the front cover on May 4th, 2023:
- 8x8 refers to the paper size of the prints -- 8x8 inches
The OPENING was great -- and pretty packed for the whole time, 6:30 - 10 PM, on Friday, May 19th, 2023:

COLLABORATIVE PRINTS
Manuel Guerra did two collaborative prints with artists from Albuquerque -- Virgil Velasco and Cody Kamrowski, by cutting the linoleum square into two pieces before carving:
- Roberto Martinez Martinez runs Taller de Gráfica Nahual in Mexico City, and is dedicated to making prints relating to bicycles and print workshops:
- We also received a bunch of prints from Nacogdoches, Texas, home of Stephen F Austin State University, where Neal Cox teaches
- Jim Weaver from Oklahoma always participates in our print exchanges and events, as well as those around the rest of the world. He inscribes into tooled leather and prints from that.

Tim Jag is organizing this pop-up, and we showed 8x8 inch print last year during his first print event in Santa Fe -- PRINTED MATTER 2022.

A few select prints will travel to Guadalajara for another 8x8 II show at the Galeria Sepia GDL on July 8, 2023. This is organized by 3 Gatos Press, run by Xavier Moreno and Alejandra Mares:

There is a reception for the "Nexo Entre Raices" exhibition at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 14th, 2023. This exhibition was organized by Marco Sanchez, and includes printmakers from both the United States and Mexico, many of whom are also in the 8x8 II Show. The exhibition runs from April 21st to September 10th, 2023:

Also exhibiting 8x8 inch prints is the AMBOS LADOS INTERNATIONAL PRINT EXCHANGE, showing at the El Paso Museum of History. This previous exhibition dove-tailed into the BUCKET EXHIBITIONS and 8x8 SHOWS. Many of the printmakers are showing in both shows, as well as our other pop-up venues.
Ambos Lados was up at the El Paso Museum of History from March 18th - July 15th, exhibiting concurrently with this 8x8 II Show. The closing will be on July 15th...perhaps 3 Gatos and Manuel Guerra will stream live into the closing in El Paso from Guadalajara...

The Southwest Print Fiesta in Silver City, New Mexico, is sponsoring a print exchange of 8x8 inch prints, deadline to apply is June 30th, 2023. We also have shown prints during previous Southwest Print Fiestas:

The reception for our other print print show -- the Desert Triangle Print Carpeta -- will be on October 26, 2023, at the University of Arizona Art Museum in Tucson. It will be up from June 10th until December 23rd, 2023. There will also be a panel gallery talk sometime in September.
- DECEMBER 15, 2023
The 2024 Border Biennial / Bienal Fronteriza 2024 opens at the El Paso Museum of Art on December 15th, 2023, and closes on April 14th, 2024. The call-to-artists closes on July 30, 2023.
Applicant artists have to live within 200 miles of either side of the Mexican border (and Albuquerque is 230 miles from the border).
