CARVE-IT -- SUMMARY

We had a great live CARVE-IT event -- with 11 artists from Las Vegas, Santa Fe and Albuquerque -- printing at the Best Gallery in Santa Fe, HECHO A MANO -- from 6 - 8 PM, on September 14, 2024:

Our goal was to bring the Las Vegas, Santa Fe and Albuquerque printmakers together (but not all by any means) to push printmaking a bit in our northern New Mexico area. As Tamarind Institute and Takach Press are both located in Albuquerque, and Santa Fe is a huge art center, New Mexico should be a bigger printmaking state.

We also continued our EXQUSITE TESSELLATION Print project by making 5 larger collaborative prints -- with the "hat" linocuts carved by the printmakers at the event:

A big THANK YOU to FRANK ROSE, the owner of HECHO A MANO, for holding the event at his gallery:

Good thing our event was after the Mexican Independence Day celebrations in the main Santa Fe Plaza, as it would be hard to compete with the dancers below:

The participating printmakers contributed "hat" Tessellation tiles to make larger prints:

Perhaps for the next event we should have Tessellation Cookies.  At Quelab we 3D printed a "hat" Tessellation cookie cutter after designing it with COOKIE CAD:

CARVE-IT -- Printmaking Event at HECHO A MANO gallery

The "CARVE-IT" live printmaking event, featuring 11 artists, went really smoothly at HECHO A MANO gallery in Santa Fe on September 14, 2024, from 6 to8 PM:

ELIZA LUTZ carved a clever exquisite two piece "donut" linocut -- one that would make four different prints, simply by spinning the inner disc 90 degrees four time:

AMY MAESTAS also printed with the two piece puzzle "donut" linocut -- in two colors, yellow for the inner disc, and blue for the outside square frame:
