More Big EXQUISITE TESSELLATION Printing at CNM

On Monday, November 10, 2025, we made 3 more big collaborative EXQUISITE TESSELLATION prints at the westside CNM campus (Central New Mexico Community College):

3 Big collaborative tessellation linocut prints on the wall,
by artists from Albuquerque and Las Vegas, New Mexico

REPRINTS

We reprinted 4 of the 11 big EXQUISITE TESSELLATION LINOCUTS -- that we had originally printed in Silver City with a steamroller at the Southwest Print Fiesta in October; and then also reprinted at the OPEN HOUSE at Remarque Print Workshop in Albuquerque in November:

FIRST PRINT

The first and biggest print was by 3 Albuquerque artists from Henry Morales' studio:

Virgil Velasco, Henry Morales, Ellie Weadock

We used three Cranfield Safe Wash Relief Inks:

SECOND PRINT

The second print was from big linocuts by Virgil Velasco and Julie Sola:

Virgil Velasco (Albuquerque) and
Julie Sola (Las Vegas, New Mexico)

ARTISTS:
  • Virgil Velasco  (Albuquerque)
  • Julie Sola  (Las Vegas, New Mexico)

THIRD PRINT

We pulled a third print on black Somerset paper, using Cranfield Caligo Safe Wash Relief Ink Soft Shades. The linocuts were from Ellie Weadock and Julie Sola:

  • The big tessellation linocuts look great as individual prints:

  • They also look great when printed as a pair -- moreover it is easier to store and handle 22 x 30 inch paper:

  • Perhaps the best solution is when both the large and small EXQUISITE TESSELLATION linocuts are printed together, and in color:

PRINTMAKING by MAIL

Lastly both these big and small EXQUISITE TESSELLATION linocuts can easily be sent in the mail, to make collaborative prints outside of New Mexico, and even in other countries.  I can imaging making a collaborative EXQUISITE TESSELLATION print in Florida, with linocuts from New Mexico, Texas, New York, Mexico, Canada, etc...

Even better if someone else took over...this is not a proprietary project:
Also THANK YOU to DAVID SMITH, the mathematician who discovered this "hat"shape aperiodic monotile in 2022.
