National Nuclear Museum -- Live Printmaking

Karl pulled 8"x8" prints live -- at the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History in Albuquerque on April 12, 2024, as part of the QUELAB group.

The event was "Discovery After Dark," an Adult Stem Night, from 6 - 9 PM:

Apparently over 750 people showed up for the event that night:

AI ART

Karl's theme was AI ART -- including Augmented Reality and Holograms -- but mostly live printing AI ART images that had been engraved on the laser cutter at Quelab He gave free prints to visitors (only charging "forgiveness" if the print came out badly):

Since Oppenheimer was filmed in New Mexico, and the movies Oppenheimer and Barbie were big hits in the previous summer -- Karl laser engraved round AI images of both Barbie and Oppenheimer to print on the adjustable Tortilla Press:

AI AUGMENTED REALITY

Visitors could also view AI ART images in Augmented Reality by going to THIS WEBSITE.  They only had to follow the QR Code -- or tap the NFC card with their smartphones-- to experience WebAR.  However with so many people inside the museum, the Internet connections were weak, and did not always bring up the AR (Augmented Reality):

QUELAB members operated other tables during the "Discovery After Dark" event at the Nuclear Museum:

Rebecca also gave me the good pictures below:

LAST YEAR
2023

Last year 2023, we also participated in the "Discovery After Dark" event at the National Nuclear Museum in Albuquerque, and Karl showed framed 8"x8" prints with QUELAB:
