We are preparing to make a BIG STEAMROLLER print at the
Southwest Print Fiesta 2025 of large
EXQUISISTE TESSELLATION Linocuts -- on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in Silver City, New Mexico.
On April 16, 2025, Ethan laser cut large 20 inch wide "hat" tessellation linocuts for us:
from a linoleum 35x 35 inches square--
We plan to piece together four large "hat" linocuts to make a larger print on 40 x 40 inch paper. We might also carve the 6 drops, and piece them together to make full square steamroller print. These puzzle pieces can be put together to print several variations.
The large "hat" linocuts
are the mirrored image of the small linocuts
we have been printing previously
his big "hat" linocut for the Steamroller Press
We probably need to tape all the big linocuts down with
Woodworkers Double Sided Tape before running the steamroller over them:
ARTISTS
We have given out 11 big TESSELLATION linocuts to carve, to 9 artists in the Southwest -- reminiscent of the theme of the

LASER CUTTING
We bought three big sheets of
36x36 inch linoleum from Dick Blick:

Ethan then laser cut the linoleum on April 16, 2025 -- into large "hat" shapes, 20 inches across at the widest:
20 INCHES at the Widest
12 large "hat" linoleum shapes
and the drops
The
LIGHTBURN file for laser cutting four large 20" hat shapes from a 35x35 inch piece of linoleum:
I cut off a half inch to make 35.5x36 inch sheets of linoleum
so that they would fit in Ethan's laser cutter
70% power, 15 mm/sec speed
We laser cut each 35x36 inch piece of linoleum
into four "hat" shapes
in about ten minutes

Thank you Ethan!!!!
And a big Thank You to Brian too, for designing
the tessellation pattern than we used to laser cut.
