Axle  Contemporary mobile art gallery in Santa Fe had a potato prints event called "POTATO."  Afterwards they cooked the potatoes and served potato soup:

Potato prints would probably make great simple patterns on t-shirts.  

For the Ambos Lados closing in the El Paso Museum of History, they made t-shirts with simple block prints, which I think turned out wonderful:
